One of the largest gaps in
Afghan healthcare delivery is Children in Afghanistan need immunization and vaccinations to protect them from dangerous, yet preventable childhood diseases. These diseases have serious complications and can and often do kill. Thousands of children in Afghanistan die or suffer from serious illnesses due to lack of timely vaccinations. This has led to Afghanistan’s infant mortality rate being one of the highest in the world according to UNICEF. (1) (2) ACF focuses on raising awareness of this severe health crisis afflicting Afghan children and channeling financial and medical resources to address this crisis. The founders of ACF are in a unique position, with contacts within the Afghan government, as well as within the medical and pharmaceutical industries in the United States. After conducting extensive research and visiting various medical facilities and the Ministry of Health in Afghanistan, the founders of ACF determined to make a difference. In the short term, ACF plans to supply immunizations and vaccinations ACF intends to provide immunizations and basic healthcare to children where there are no governmental or private facilities available. It will gather resources from the United States through various outreach efforts to be used in child healthcare in Afghanistan. In the long term, ACF's objective is to improve Afghan communities’ access to and general awareness of the importance of children’s health, and to ensure that there is a significant improvement in the average Afghan child’s wellbeing. ACF plans to continue its vaccination and immunization programs as long as they are beneficial to the children of Afghanistan. Additionally, in geographically remote areas where government health care facilities do not suffice to cater to the local population, ACF will assist organizations that have child healthcare delivery programs in place, and will eventually develop their own programs that will provide much needed medical support to Afghans who do not have access to it.
